Swimming LessonsSkipChildren ages 6 months to 3 years and their parents. An introduction to water. Pike 1For preschoolers with no swimming experience and who need 3 or 4 float belts. Skills covered are blowing bubbles, kicking with a barbell, reaching, pulling, and jumping in the pool. Pike 2For preschoolers who passed Pike 1. Skills covered are a continuation of Pike 1 with goal being to use only 1 or 2 float belts by the end. EelFor preschoolers who passed Pike 2 and need only 1 or 2 float belts. Skills covered are a continuation of the Pike 2 with an emphasis on rhythmic breathing and endurance. Ray/StarfishFor preschoolers who passed Eel and need no float belt. Skills covered are a continuation of Eel with an emphasis on rhythmic breathing and endurance.
Progressive Swimming Lessons (ages 6 and older)PolliwogBeginning swim class for those with no previous experience. Skills covered are water adaption, front and back float, front and back glide. Float belts may be used. GuppyFor those who have completed Polliwog and are comfortable in the water. Skills covered are front and back float, one length of front crawl and one length of back crawl. Must be out of float belts to pass. MinnowFor those who have passed Guppy and can swim in deep water without floatation device. Skills covered are perfection of front crawl and back stroke, swimming two lengths of each. Endurance is also stressed. FishFor those who have passed Minnow. Must have good front and back crawl technique. Skills covered are breast stroke and elementary work. Flying FishFor those who have passed Fish. Skills covered are butterfly stroke and individual medley with an emphasis on endurance. Shark/PorpoiseFor those who have passed Flying Fish. Skills covered are advanced with an introduction to competitive swimming and lifesaving. |
